What is an AMO (After Market Order) and how to place it?

Estimated reading: 1 minute 48 views

After Market Order (AMO) is a convenient feature that lets users place orders beyond regular trading hours, with actual order placement to the exchange taking place when the market reopens. This is especially useful for individuals who aren’t able to actively monitor the markets during standard trading hours. AMOs are applicable across all product types—CNC, MIS, NRML—except for Cover orders (COs).

Here are the specific time frames during which you can place, modify, or cancel AMOs:

NSE and BSE Equity: 4 PM to 9:00 AM & additionally between 9.00 AM to 9.14 AM

F&O: 4 PM to 9:14 AM

MCX: 12 Midnight to 9 AM.

To submit an AMO, follow these steps:

Click on the stock you want to buy.

The order window will appear.

Check the box with the AMO option.

Fill in the necessary details and click on “Buy.”
