Why are holdings not displayed in the exchange where they were bought?

The stocks in your TradeJini demat account don’t have a specific exchange assigned to them. You have the flexibility to sell them on either the NSE or BSE, regardless of the exchange where you initially purchased them. CubePlus reflects the holdings’ prices based on the exchange where the previous closing price was higher.

While prices on both exchanges are usually the same, occasional differences can occur due to factors such as:

Corporate actions or IPOs: For instance, on June 15, 2020, Alok Industries exhibited a price difference due to a corporate action.

Tick size variations: Some stocks on BSE have a tick size of ₹0.01, whereas on NSE, it’s ₹0.05.

When deciding to sell holdings, it’s wise to check prices on both exchanges to ensure selling on the one with the higher price. The displayed price on CubePlus is based on the previous closing, not the live trading price.

To sell holdings from the non-default exchange, you can add the stock to CubePlus Marketwatch and sell it. Alternatively, you can directly select your preferred exchange from the order window.

Please refer to the BSE circular (WEB) that outlines SEBI’s requirement to eliminate constant exchange preferences from trading platforms. Instead, trading platforms should display the best available market price across both exchanges.
