A Basic Service Demat Account (BSDA) is designed with small investors in mind, catering to those who may invest small amounts in stocks, bonds, ETFs, mutual funds, and more. The key advantage of a BSDA is its nil or reduced demat account annual maintenance charges.

Single Demat Account: If only one demat account is associated with your PAN (Permanent Account Number) across various brokers within the industry. In case you decide to open an additional account with another broker, it will be categorized as an RSDA (Regular Service Demat Account).

Holding Value: The total value of securities held in your demat account should not exceed ₹2,00,000.

Fee Structure for BSDA:

For holdings valued up to ₹50,000, there are no maintenance charges.
For holdings between ₹50,000 and ₹2,00,000, an annual fee of ₹100 is applicable.
